Interesting rumor was brought to my attention on a possible trade. (Thanks Jim).
It wouldn't be worth reporting this rumor if it wasn't coming from such a reputable source, but ESPN's Peter Gammons is reporting that the Brewers are interested in trading Prince Fielder, JJ Hardy and another player for the Giants' 23-year old, starting pitcher Matt Cain. This report has been mentioned before, but Gammons brought it up again during a recent broadcast.
Cain was 8-13 this year with a 3.80 ERA. I would hope that this deal didn't happen. I wouldn't mind if the Brewers deal Prince as I don't think he'll re-sign there, but I think they'd be giving up way too much in this deal.
I'm also not surprised to see Hardy's name floating out there as the Brewers have their next shortstop in waiting in Alcides Escobar. He's a 21 year old kid with an amazing glove and great speed. Here are this stats from AA Huntsville this year. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?n=Alcides%20Escobar&pos=SS&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=444876
Scouts do consider him a year away however, so I'd be suprised if Hardy wasn't the opening day SS for the Crew next year.
Let me know what you think about this trade or another possible situations regarding Prince or any other players. Go CREW!

Don't mind fielder, but that would be way too much to give up. I like Hardy and would rather they move him to 3rd or 2nd. Put the youngster at short. Weeks could go. Brewers need to throw a boatload of $$$ towards C.C. and let Sheets go. Sheets is never healthy when you need him!!!!!! The money you save with Gagne gone and if you would get rid of Fielder, put that money towards C.C. I think he would rather play in the National League because he likes to be more involved than just pitching every 5 days. Rotation wouldn't be bad with C.C. Yovonne, Mannny, and fill in the blanks. Still need to solidify the bullpen. Curious to see who will be coaching next year. Sveum, Yount? Just don't want the Brewers starting over with another rebuilding year. Got to have pitching!!! Way to go Mets!!!!! I thought I was watching the Brewers last night when they couldn't score a guy from 3rd with no outs. I feel for you Mets fans. Brewers hold their own destiny in now, Go Crew!!!!!!!!
I really don't want to get rid of Hardy. I think he can be moved to 2nd base in two years when Escobar comes up.
I also really would like to keep Prince, but I'm not sure the Brewers are financially going to be able to. I think he'd bolt for the big time $$ in a second if given the chance. Therefore, I think they will try to work out a deal so they don't get screwed and get nothing.
Sheets and leave and that's fine. He can't be relied on to give big innings due to his injuries popping up every year. I've love for them to keep CC, but it's going to be impossible. He could get $25 million a year to make 35 starts. That's insane money. They'll just try to get a different really good pitcher for half the cost at the most.
