Rumor has it GM Doug Melvin is considering a "short list" of candidates for the managerial position in Milwaukee. I like Dale Sveum, but I wasn't that impressed with his moves or lack there of in his 16 games at the helm. I hated Mike Cameron in the leadoff spot, and hated even worse that he wouldn't give anyone a chance in RF over Corey Hart. Now I think Hart is a decent player, but down the stretch you all know what he was like.
Evidently the "short list" includes former Oakland A's manager Ken Macha, who was Melvin's original choice, but he took Oakland and we hired Ned. Also, is former D-back World Series winning manager Bob Brenly (MY CHOICE!) and former Yankee, Ranger and current ESPN analyst Buck Showalter. I also heard former Met manger and now managing in Japan, Bobby Valentine. I say if this is Melvin's list, it's a no brainer. Go with Brenly and get some good experience and try to lead this roster in the right direction.
What do you guys think?

If this is the list, I would prefer in order Brenly (partially because Yount would be his bench coach and the org. can't let go of 1982), Bobby V (discipline would help this team), Sveum (continuity has some value), Showalter (He would possibly be the best candidate for the short term but his style grinds teams apart after 2 years or so), Macha (bleh).
I had also heard Mike Hargrove, who I think would be a great fit if he is not "burned out". He would be even or above Brenly in my opinion.
More importantly, I hope Jack Z., our director of scouting and draft guru does not get the Seattle job.
I'd agree, if Jack Z. leaves that wouldn't be good at all. He's the reason our minor league system has been good for years!!
Manager doesn't matter, they need a hitting coach that will teach discipline at the plate and turn these swingers into hitters. Otherwise you have to get rid of Hall, Hart and Weeks. They have the potential, they need the coaching.
Molitor, Yount, Gantner and Sveum with Vukovich as the pitching coach.
Brenly is my choice. He has been broadcasting Cubs games so he will know how to beat them because he is aware of their weaknesses. If he hires a good hitting coach, the Brewers have a good chance of winning the division.
CC would help too
